Dahl, MD, and Lawrence A. Rheins, PhD, to lead its newly-opened Phoenix research facility. “Drs. Dahl and Rheins bring Stephens significant clinical research horsepower, expert insight, and business acumen to our Phoenix facility,” notes Dr. Thomas Stephens, president. “They are distinguished scientists and have decades of experience and expertise to meet the needs of our global clients.”

Mark V. Dahl, MD, Medical Director, is an internationally renowned dermatologist and currently a Professor Emeritus and former Chairman of the Department of Dermatology of the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis. The American Academy of Dermatology awarded Dr. Dahl the Master Dermatologist title, and in 1993, he served as the AAD’s president. As Vice President of the Society for Investigative Dermatology, his laboratory focused on inflammation, immunology and infectious diseases of the skin. Dr. Dahl sat on many boards and is especially proud of his tenure on the Women’s Dermatological Society. His book, Clinical Immunodermatology, is a standard reference. He is an honorary member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Canadian Dermatological Society, the British Association of Dermatologists, the Pacific Dermatological Association, the South African Dermatological Society, Academia Mexicana de Dermatologica (Mexico), and Sociedad Chilena de Dermatologica y Venerologica (Chile).

Lawrence A. Rheins, PhD, Senior Director, is a highly accomplished senior executive, research scientist, and successful entrepreneur with more than 30 years in skin science. Most recently, he was Chief Scientific Officer for John Paul Dejoria’s start-up, Aubio Life Sciences. Prior to Aubio, Dr. Rheins was President/CEO of Makucell, a University of Southern California incubator start-up offering skin care cosmeceuticals with a regenerative medicine, stem cell technology. He was a Vice President at Floratech International, a supplier of botanically-derived ingredients for the cosmetics and personal care industries. He began his entrepreneurial career as founder and CEO of DermTech International, a CRO focused on cosmetic and dermatology clinical trials and the development of molecular tests for various skin diseases. During his tenure, he invented a successful, non-invasive tape biopsy used for melanoma diagnoses, one of several patents. Earlier, Dr. Rheins was Technical Director at Hill Top Research and acted as a divisional toxicologist at Procter & Gamble. He authored more than 70 articles on immunology, — more — toxicology, dermatology and in vitro alternatives. Dr. Rheins received his PhD in Biological Sciences (Immunology) from the University of Cincinnati.
